Welcome to the PGSL 2008 season. We are looking forward
to another great year and the
girls having more fun than ever! This year our league
hosts 77 teams with close to 950 girls
participating. With over 70 community sponsors and more
than 150 coaches and volunteers,
we’re off to another great season of softball!
Our Rec. Division Directors continue to focus on
balancing the teams across the board. Balance
amongst all teams leads to enjoyable softball not only
for the girls, but parents, coaches and fans, as well.
The girls develop not only from their coaching staff,
but also from the other players on their team. New
friendships are made and each player broadens their
social horizon.
I am excited that the girls are given this opportunity
to play and develop in this environment. March
15th kicks off our Opening Day which will begin with our
traditional pancake breakfast and will develop into one
hour exhibition games and league photos. We will have
two more regular length exhibition games before official
league play begins on April 5th. Once again, the season
will end in a double elimination play-off schedule.
I am very proud to be part of the Pleasanton Girls
Softball League! PGSL is known around Northern
California as a well run and ‘class’ organization, from
our spring league to our summer and fall travel team
programs.
Our Phantom traveling program was well represented last
year with five traveling teams (two 10’s, two 12’s and
one 14’s team). We are proud to say one team represented
PGSL at the State Games and three teams represented PGSL
at the National Championship level. We are
extremely proud of this program as ALL players come from
within our league. In summary, all parents, coaches and
sponsors are recognized for their generous effort and
devoted time in which they provide our players. As a
whole, we all contribute to OUR league, PGSL. All in
all, I look forward to a great season and the girls, of
course, with no doubt, having FUN!
