Recreational Softball League – Frequently Asked Questions
Who can play in the rec league?
Our recreational league is open to girls of all skill levels, typically Kindergarten through High School, based on age divisions. No prior softball experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn and have fun!
When does the season start and end?
Our spring season usually runs from February through May, and our summer season typically goes from June through July. Key dates, including opening day, player appreciation day, and picture day are posted on our league calendar.
What division should I sign my child up for?
Please take a look at the chart linked HERE to determine the correct age division for your child. Occasionally a player might want to play 'up' an age division, based on previous experience, however this is generally not recommended. If you'd like your child to play 'up', please email the VP of rec, [email protected], before you register.
What does the registration fee include?
The fee includes a uniform (jersey and socks), field use, team equipment, game umpires, league insurance, and other operational costs. Additional costs may include a glove, bat, cleats, and a helmet.
Are there player evaluations or tryouts?
No tryouts are required for rec.
How are teams formed?
Teams are formed by the league. Our goal is to create balanced and competitive teams while honoring as many teammate or coach requests as possible.
How often do teams practice and play games?
Most teams practice 1–2 times per week and play 1–2 games weekly, usually on weeknights or Saturdays. Practice times and game schedules may vary by age division and field availability.
Can my child be placed with a friend or sibling?
We do our best to honor teammate and coach requests made during registration, especially for younger age groups. However, we cannot guarantee all requests due to team balancing and coach availability.
What equipment does my child need?
Each player needs a glove, bat, helmet with a faceguard, and cleats. Team jerseys and socks are included in registration.
Can I volunteer to coach or help?
Absolutely! We rely on parent volunteers to coach, assist, and manage teams. No experience is necessary—training and support are provided. You can sign up during player registration or contact us directly.
Are scholarships or financial assistance available?
Yes, we offer financial assistance for families in need. Please reach out to the league directly or check the registration page for scholarship applications.
